In Loving Memory of Paul R. Courtemanche Jr. “Coot” and Carol Courtemanche
Paul “Coot” R. Courtemanche, Jr., 76, and Carol Courtemanche (Langlois), 78, of Attleboro, MA, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2026, in the home they shared together. Married for 28 years, they leave behind a loving family and a loyal group of friends who will remember them with the deepest affection.
Paul was born in Central Falls, RI to P. Roland Courtemanche, Sr. and Elsie Courtemanche (Whitman). He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973, attaining the rank of Sergeant while serving as an airman during the Vietnam War. He carried that pride in his service throughout his life, along with a lasting enthusiasm for aviation and engines. His beloved vanning community gave him and his loving wife, Carol, the chance to see so much of the country he had served. Those who knew Paul will remember his gift for sharing a good story about one of his many adventures and his enthusiasm for any memory involving planes, trains, vans or classic cars.
Carol was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Louis and Marie-Paule Langlois (Paradis). She enjoyed her job as a house cleaner and considered many of her clients to be her friends. She equally enjoyed the freedom it gave her to travel and camp with Paul. She was extremely fond of her big family and loved them all dearly. She extended that love to her sisters, brothers and her many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Carol will be remembered as being immensely thoughtful and generous.
The couple met in the 1970s, reconnected many years later and married in 1998. Together, they built a wonderful life driving near and far to spend time with friends and sharing a home on the land Paul’s father and grandfather lived on for several generations. They were devoted members of the New England Van Council, die-hard New England Patriots fans, loved a good tie-dye shirt and appreciated great music and conversations.
Paul and Carol are survived by siblings Nancy S. Hale of Attleboro, Harry D. Courtemanche of Pawtucket, Louise R. Fortin of Pawtucket, Noella Kloppenburg of Seabrook, NH, Ruth Crompton of Cumberland and Diane Kozatek of Pawtucket; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends.
Carol was predeceased by her brothers Paul Langlois of Brockton, MA and Peter Langlois of Winter Haven, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 6, 2026 at Our Lady of Consolation Parish of Saint John Paul II Parish, 211 Sabin Street, Pawtucket, RI. A private burial is planned for family at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Rhode Island.
We welcome family and friends to join us for a "Celebration of Life" from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, November 6, 2026 at the Elks Lodge, 887 S. Main Street, Attleboro, MA where Coot and Carol were members.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in their memory to your local “Toys for Tots” or to the Providence VA Medical Center which provided so much care and support to Paul and Carol and continues to support our veterans that have served.
Their family is grateful to the firefighters, first responders, neighbors, and friends who have offered care and support during this difficult time.
