Mrs. Mary Rosa Souto

Attleboro – Mary Rosa Souto, 92, of 4th Street, passed away on November 26, 2013 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John Souto Sr.

Born in Taunton, MA on January 1, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Martins Valadao and Maria Rosa Costa-Valadao Bettencourt.

Mary Souto was a devoted mother and grandmother that was always there for her family. Mary was a member of St. John the Evangelist and attended church regularly. Mary enjoyed collecting dolls and she displayed them proudly. One of her favorite past times was playing solitaire while watching Mayberry RFD. Mary cherished St. Anthony and always carried an item that signified him.

Mary is survived by her four children, Marguerite Hayes of Attleboro, John Souto Jr. of Attleboro, Manuel John Souto of North Attleboro, and Eva Rose Henry of Attleboro; four siblings, Manual Valadao of East Falmouth, Hilda Valadao-Sousa of East Falmouth, Joseph Costa of East Falmouth and Nemesio (Jim) Bettencourt of East Taunton; also many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is the mother of the late Manuel Souto and sister of the late John Valadao.
