Attleboro, Massachusetts
Heaven gained another Angel on Saturday, July 29, 2023 with the unexpected passing of Mary C. Smith.
Mary was born on September 20, 1950 in Attleboro, Massachusetts, where she lived her entire life. She was the youngest daughter of the late Victor H. Smith and the late Helen C. (Tracy) Smith and the much-loved Sister-In-Law of the late William F. Piasecki.
Despite being born with Cerebral Palsy, Mary lived a remarkable life filled with laughter and love. She was able to attend Attleboro Schools with some extra time through junior high, and went on to work for the Workshop through Attleboro Enterprises, and then Mars Department Store in Attleboro.
In addition to Attleboro, Mary also had many wonderful memories of time spent in Franklin, West Bridgewater, and Wareham, Massachusetts. Mary had a huge heart and a smile to match. She enjoyed swimming, was always up for a game of cards or a Hallmark movie, could outdance anyone at a wedding reception, and could be found with a plate of sweets at most gatherings. Her favorite thing, though, was being with people, and time spent with family and friends. She ‘lit up’ at cookouts, birthday parties, and Holiday celebrations.
Family was everything to Mary, and though she never had children of her own, she leaves behind nine nieces and nephews and fourteen great nieces and nephews, all of them her “kids”. She is also survived by her three older sisters, Barbara (Smith) Carreiro and her husband David Carreiro, Kathleen (Smith) Piasecki, and Nancy (Smith) Desmarais, all of whom adored her. Her loving dog, “Zeke” is just lost without her.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Duffy Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA, followed immediately by a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.
On Saturday to honor Mary, please wear something green, as this was her favorite color and she would wear it as often as she could.
