Maria Moniz

Attleboro- Maria C. (Raposo) Moniz, 88, of Attleboro passed away at Sturdy Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 with her loving sons by her side. She was the beloved wife to the late Jose Moniz who passed away in 2016.

Maria was born on December 6, 1934 in Sao Miguel, Azores to Antonio and Maria (Jorge) Raposo. She migrated to Winnipeg, Canada with her young family. In 1979 she convinced her husband to move their family closer to relatives who had settled in Attleboro where they would remain and raise their boys.
Maria worked in the jewelry industry as an assembler for many years while also being a homemaker for her family. She was dedicated to her family and church and spent countless hours assisting in many functions and feast at Holy Ghost Parish.

She enjoyed cooking, trips to the Casino and trying her luck with the occasional scratch ticket. Most of all Maria enjoyed her long phone conversations with family and friends and entertaining family and friends as much as possible.

Maria’s family would like to thank the staff at Sturdy Memorial Hospital and all the family and friends that supported her on a daily basis with phone calls and visits.

Maria is survived by her devoted sons; Manuel R. Moniz and his wife, Eduarda of Attleboro; Jose R. Moniz and his wife, Donna of Attleboro; Gabriel R. Moniz of Mississippi and Issac R. Moniz of Attleboro. Maria was the beloved grandmother to; Paul Moniz, Lisa Moniz, Brian Moniz, Sabrina Moniz, Brianna Moniz, and Mckenzie Moniz. Her sister’s Salome Medeiros, Luisa Castro and Maria dos Anjos Oliveira all of Attleboro.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Manuel Jorge Raposo, Jose Raposo and Antonio Raposo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December, 19, 2022 at Holy Ghost Church, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro, MA. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
