Liam Clayton

–

Attleboro, Massachusetts

Liam Francis Clayton, 54, of North Attleboro, passed away on Saturday, October 15th at the
Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

He was born on August 22, 1968 in Liverpool, England. As a child, he attended St. Francis de Sales school in Liverpool until he moved to the United States with his family in December 1975. He grew up in Plainville, MA where he made many lifelong friends, played a number of various town sports, did an extensive amount of cross-country traveling and according to him, got up to quite a few shenanigans here and there along the way. He attended elementary school at The Wood School in Plainville and went to Middle School at Saint Mary’s Sacred Heart Catholic School in North Attleboro. However, when it came time to go to high school, he purposely failed the entrance exam for Bishop Feehan Catholic High School in Attleboro, because he just did not want to attend high school there. Therefore, he was a member of the Class of 1986 at King Philip High School in Wrentham and had many stories to share about his time there.

Liam was most recently employed as an IT Systems Analyst with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for nearly 17 years. Earlier in his life he worked at many different places over the years. First being the old Stop and Shop in North Attleboro, where he found out that cashiering would most likely not be the best fit for him. While he was still living at home with his parents, he also worked at Debby’s Petland in the Walpole Mall and Boston Tropical Pet Store, also in Walpole, where he developed a love for saltwater fish and at one time had a quite large saltwater aquarium at home filled with beautiful tropical fish, plants and coral. In addition to the fish, he also brought home various creatures big and small, like a parakeet, a cute little pug that could only walk in circles and a lovely one-eyed boxer named Tara, who eventually won over everyone’s hearts and quickly became another member of The Clayton Family. He also revealed that at one time he had even brought home a tarantula, but that information has never been confirmed.

At around the age of 21, Liam started working at “SuperPlace”, which was the local grocery store in Plainville. It was there that he met, dated and eventually married his wife and his best friend, Karen. They were married in Wrentham, Ma on June 22, 1996 and had the most amazing wedding that friends and family talked about for years to come. They shared their first apartment together in Mansfield, Ma. and after a few years of living there and a year living with Liam’s parents, Angela and Frank Clayton in Plainville, they settled down in North Attleboro, which is where they stayed and raised their three amazing children, Jack, Harry and Maddie. He was so incredibly proud of his children and he loved them with all of his heart. He enjoyed watching soccer matches and rooting for the home team, the Liverpool Football Club (LFC). He and his oldest son Jack had just recently returned home from an amazing trip back to England where they stayed in London and Liverpool were able to visit with his Uncle Pete, his cousins Nicola and Antony and their families. They attended an LFC home match where Liverpool beat Bournemouth 9-0. Liam
enjoyed the time that he spent at home with his family, the time that he spent with his good
friends and the time he spent with his family at his mother-in-law, Jayne Wagstaff’s home in
Falmouth, Cape Cod, where so many fun times happened and memories to last a lifetime were
made. Liam also really enjoyed cooking. In fact, Liam did practically all of the cooking in the
house and he was so amazing at it, that Karen never had to learn nor ever wanted to learn how
to cook. He would bring her dinner at night after it was prepared and although it may have
taken him ages to prepare it, she and the kids always appreciated it, always enjoyed what he
had prepared and loved him very much for it as well. They worked well as a team from the beginning and loved and supported each other through mostly good times, but sometimes bad and through the thick and thin of life. He was an awesome husband, a wonderful father and he loved his entire family more than anything in the world. Liam was simply…THE BEST xo

Liam is predeceased by his father, Francis P. Clayton of Plainville, MA.

Liam leaves behind his wife and best friend of 26 years, Karen (Wagstaff) Clayton and his three
children, Jack, Harrison and Madalaine. He also leaves his mum, Angela Clayton of Plainville,
his sister Helen (Clayton) Stamatel and her husband Stanley Stamatel also of Plainville, his
sister Alexandra (Clayton) Hall and her husband Greg of Wrentham, his mother-in-law, Jayne
Wagstaff of Falmouth, Ma, his father-in-law, Herbert Wagstaff of North Attleboro, his sister-in-law
Brenda Wagstaff, of North Attleboro, his sister-in-law Janet (Wagstaff) Marland and her husband
John of Norfolk and his sister-in-law Maureen (Wagstaff) Enegren, also of North Attleboro. Last
but certainly in no way least, he also leaves his Uncle and Aunt, Alan and Sue D’Annunzio of
Norfolk & his and Karen’s Uncle, Reverend Jay. T Maddock of Fall River, who have all been a
huge part of his family’s lives and so very many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
great-nephews, a great-niece and so so many cousins and friends.
