NETTLES ISLAND, FLORIDA- Karen Anne Amadon, 74, of Nettles Beach, FL and formerly of Milford, NH, and Rehoboth, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital in Stuart, Florida. She was the adored and loving wife of the late Robert S. Amadon.
Born on August 6, 1944, in Nashua, New Hampshire, she was the devoted daughter of the late Russell W. and Norah (Gallagher) Miles.
Karen was a graduate of Milford High School in Milford, New Hampshire.
During her working career, Karen was employed at Texas Instruments, Anawan Trust, and NES. Following her well-deserved retirement, she moved down to Florida to escape the cold and enjoy the warm weather.
Down in Florida, Karen made many close relationships with her fellow residents in her community on Nettles Island. She was quite involved in the community and would often be seen out and about. She was the Bocce Club President and she also spent time working at the Rec Hall. She loved playing cribbage and dominoes. She frequently planned and attended various social functions and events that were held throughout the year.
In her spare time, Karen had many hobbies and activities. Being a creative and artistic woman, she loved to knit, needlepoint, crochet, and take part in arts & crafts of any kind. At the age of 70, she taught herself to swim. In addition, she began her own shuttle service, known as Karen’s Kar. She loved to volunteer her time by helping others and enjoyed socializing with her friends. Above all, Karen valued and treasured all the time spent and memories made with her dear family. She was particularly excited and eager for the birth of her first great-grandchild, who is expected in June.
Karen is survived by her proud and cherished sons: Robert S. Amadon and his significant other Cheryl McKim, of North Attleboro; Russell L. Amadon and his wife, Jennifer Amadon, of Spring, Texas; and Richard F. Amadon of Lawton, Oklahoma. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Emily and Amelia Amadon of Attleboro; Kevin McKim, MD of San Mateo, California; Gregory and Matthew McKim of North Attleboro; Kylie Amadon and Kassandra Silvestre of Spring, TX; Nick Silvestre of Rhode Island; Katie and Darius Marvasti of Bend, Oregon; Meagan Amadon of Oklahoma; Bailey White of Oklahoma; and Kayla and Gabrielle Amadon of Pawtucket, RI. Karen also leaves behind many friends from her community down in Nettles Island, FL.
In addition to her husband and parents, Karen is predeceased by her father-in-law, Floyd Amadon; mother-in-law, Margery Amadon; and brother-in-law, Raymond Amadon.
Karen’s family would like to graciously thank the ladies of Nettles Island, her friends, and fellow club members, especially Dick and Judy Bellevance; Marion and David Lloyd; Nancy Bellevance; and many more for the care, concern, and compassion shown to her. It will always be remembered.
