James F. McNary Jr.

–

Attleboro, Massachusetts

James F. “Jim” McNary, Jr., 88, of Attleboro passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Judith “Judy” (Spencer) McNary.

Born October 19, 1935 in Somerville, MA he was the son of the late James F. Sr., and Helen (Griffiths) McNary.

Jim was raised in Manomet, MA and graduated from Plymouth High School Class of 1954. He proudly served for the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958 as a Staff Sergeant. Stationed in Europe, he traveled all over France and Germany, working with electronic communication and radio systems. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force he attended technical school, furthering his education in electronics. He was employed as an Electronics Engineer for the Foxboro Company, until his well deserved retirement in 2000.

Jim had a passion for old classic cars and especially for fast sports cars. He also loved to play golf, often teaching his children and the neighborhood kids how to play. He truly looked forward to his annual stay in Fort Lauderdale, FL with friends and family, where he was able to play more golf. He loved watching old Westerns on television and did not mind if he’d seen a particular episode before. He adored his five granddaughters, and often would sing silly songs to them when they were babies. He and Judy loved to travel, and were frequent cruisers, especially going to Bermuda.

He is survived by his children, Bonnie Jette (Stephen) and James M. McNary (Susan) both of Attleboro; his loving grandchildren, Emily Oliver of Lake Stevens, WA, Erin Jette and Seanna Lavoie both of Attleboro, Renee McNary of Nashua, NH and Jaime McNary of New Brighton, PA; a great grandson, Logan Lavoie of Attleboro; his siblings, Stephen McNary of Plymouth, MA and Donna Jones of Jay, FL.

He was predeceased by his sister, the late Jeanne McNary.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10-11:30 am on Monday, September 23rd at Duffy-Poule Funeral & Cremation Services, 20 Peck St., Attleboro, MA. A funeral home service will follow at 11:30 am. Interment with military honors will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro
