Genoveva (Alicea) Acevedo

Genoveva (Alicea) Acevedo, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on January 8, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born in Aguas Buena, Puerto Rico on January 2, 1950, she was the beloved daughter of the late Augustine Alicea and Haydee Santiago.

Genoveva moved to Attleboro, MA in 1967, where she made her home and raised her family. She was a dedicated jewelry worker, working tirelessly for Balfour until their closing, and then at Marathon until her well-earned retirement in 2022. She was well-loved and respected in her field.

Genoveva was a woman of many talents, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and she was also a caring friend. Her love for dance, travel, and spending time with her family were the pillars of her life. She was known for her love of cooking and entertaining, her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the tantalizing aroma of her delicious meals.

Genoveva is survived by her husband of 58 years Jose Acevedo of Attleboro; her two daughters, Darlene Acevedo-Cotto & spouse of Attleboro & Maria Summerville & spouse of Attleboro; her 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 9 siblings; she also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Augustine Alicea and Haydee Santiago, and son Jose Alberto Acevedo precede her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, located at 133 North Main Street, Attleboro. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Attleboro, MA.
